Tourists in our Home State

Curtis and I took a two week vacation to Washington, and it was so much fun! We decided to be tourist!

*Disclaimer: there is going to be so many photos! You have been warned*

We flew into Seattle first and honestly had the best time touring Seattle, Bremerton and Bangor. Bangor is where Curtis could *potentially* get stationed.

The first day we got on the ferry and took it to Seattle. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed that! The view was beautiful. We saw Mt Rainier and the Seattle sky line.

Some stranger asked us after multiple failed photo attempts if we wanted him to take our photo. I was hesitant because the view was getting really good, and I didn't want to miss our opportunity and not like the photo. But, I gave him the phone, and snapchat was open. He takes the picture and the text starts popping up. He said something like "Why is the text popping up? I have an iPhone and mine never does this."

I had a hard time not laughing. But he seriously took the best photo of us, and I am completely obsessed with it!

When we got into Seattle we walked around Pikes Place Market, and of course had to take a picture with the sign (like all tourists do!)

Then we took the million mile hike up hill to the Space Needle. Okay, so it's only really a mile but it took forever, and it really is up hill the whole way!

We got an amazing view of Mt Rainier from the top of the Space Needle! The weather was amazing the whole time we were there!

We also marked ourselves on the the map! The Durbin's traveled 2,409 miles to visit the space needle. I thought it was pretty cute.

Then we Ubered back to the ferry terminal, and went back to our hotel that night. And that unfortunately ended that day!

Day two we decided to take it easy and drive around the bases (Bremerton, and Bangor.) Since we had stayed on the base in Bremerton we already had a little time to explore that area. So we wandered around a little, but spent most of our day getting lost on the Bangor base. I think we went through the same security gate three times, because we kept accidentally leaving the base. Honestly, I think the gate guard recognized us! We went through all the housing, and dreampt of our life there. We shopped at the NEX, because you can't go to a new base without exploring their NEX! It was pretty big. After spending quite a while just driving, we found some lunch. (Food from our trip is coming in my next blog post.) Then we drove around the area, trying to find places to stop at with beautiful scenery. I have no idea where we were, or how we got there. But I found this cute little park that has a great view of the mountains, and water. When you turned, you could see Mt Rainier in the distance. It was perfect there!

Killed it with the self timer photos!

That evening we had dinner with one of my best friends! She made us Tatertot Casserole, and it was AMAZINGG. This girl was the whole reason we were in visiting Seattle/Bremerton/Bangor. Because she GOT MARRIED.

The day after the wedding, Curtis and I made the drive from Seattle to Spokane, where we met our families! On the way home, we stopped in Leavenworth, WA. If you've never been there, I would 100% recommend going there! It is a cute little German town. Everything with in the town has to be in the same code, or regulations. Even the Starbucks, McDonalds, and Coldstone were build in the same style.

We were only able to spend about an hour and a half there. BUT, we left with some amazing Jalapeño Mustard, and Apple Butter. The store we got them at you were able to sample everything.

The rest of the trip was spent catching up with family, friends and eating lots of good food! It was so nice to see everyone, and the weather was amazing!

I made them get dressed, and stand outside just for this photo. Russell was not in the mood, but I tickled him and this is the best we got!

Until next time, Washington.

sincerely, stephanie
